Skiers and snowboarders were all smiles after more than 10 inches of powder fell at Winter Park Resort making for a powder morning on Thursday, April 3.
Thanks to more than 29 feet of total snowfall this season and more on the way throughout April, Winter Park Resort will extend its 2013-14 ski and ride season an extra week, with closing day now scheduled for Sunday, April 27.
Winter Park Resort has received 352.5 inches of snow this season, well ahead of average for this time of year and just ahead of the historical average for snowfall in an entire season. In March alone, more than five feet of snow fell at the ski area, meaning conditions through the new closing date of April 27 should be superb.
Despite adding an extra week of operations, Winter Park Resort will still conduct its Springtopia celebration on the weekend of April 19-20, with free concerts by Big Head Todd and the Monsters and Dumpstaphunk as well as the Spring Splash taking place at the originally scheduled dates and times.
Ski Granby Ranch will host its spring splash on Saturday and then close for the season on Sunday.
The Devil's Thumb Ranch Nordic Center is still open and plans to stay open until late April. The Snow Mountain Ranch Nordic Center will also be closing for the season on Sunday. The Grand Lake Nordic Center has already closed for the season.
